Resources and Information to Assist Hurricane Katrina Victims:

In an effort to assist our neighboring states affected by Hurricane Katrina, please find information on the following Web sites. Please note that some of the websites may be down intermittently due to power outages.

If you need to report a missing loved one in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi please contact:

Salvation Army HOTLINE for Public use 678-225-0885 8am-6pm 7 days a week

To donate or volunteer for disaster relief efforts, contact the American Red Cross through their website or by calling at 1-800-HELPNOW (1-800-435-7669).

Newton County EMA is requesting that anyone locally wanting to donate items should deliver those items to the Salvation Army on Washington Street. Also, if you wish to donate your time, you can reach representatives of the Local EMA at the FFA camp by calling 770-786-6926. Press "0" when prompted and tell them that you wish to volunteer to help. DO NOT go to the FFA camp unless you have already called ahead and been listed as a volunteer and been asked to come down to help. The phone lines at all agencies are expected to be extremely busy over the weekend so please be patient when calling for anything.
